Heart Block Tutorial

Hi there! Hope you all are doing well!  If you haven't entered to win this week's current giveaway ($50.00 Gift Certificate to Fort Worth Fabric Studio) --you still have time to enter! Go here for all the details.

Love squared is one of the newest bundles from the shop, and I can't tell you how much fun I have had with this bundle of fabric.  I have made three different projects, and I still have some left over scraps!  (you can buy the bundle here)

If you haven't seen the Love Squared Quilt-You can check that out here and you can even get the FREE pattern over at the shop here.

I have also created another pattern for a Valentine's table runner called Heart Quartet! It's a fun little quilting project that you can whip up in no time.  You can find the pattern here

Today, I am going to share with you part 1 of how to make a Scrappy Heart Pillow.

I have broken up the tutorial in two parts:

1. How to construct the heart block

I will post the envelope pillow cover tutorial tomorrow--so be sure to check back! :)

The block is easy to construct, and is made primary up of half square triangles.  You can make this as big or as small as you'd like.  Just change the size of your squares that you start out with.

Supplies and cutting:
10 Squares cut 3" x 3" in various reds and pinks
4 Squares cut 3" x 3" in background/white fabric
2 Squares cut 2.5" x 2.5" in white
Coordinating thread
Sewing machine
Rotary cutter and mat
Scissors

So let's start with the basics:

We are going to start by making half square triangles.  You will need to make the following sets:

**Green lines indicate your sewing line.
You will trim all blocks down to 2.5" square.

You will need the following half square triangles:

Your finished block size will be approximately 8.5" x 8.5" unfinished

Tomorrow, I will take you through the steps of actually turning this fun little block into a pillow!

Talk to you soon,
