Quilt Market Recap 2014

Hi there! I have a fun post today, filled with pictures from Quilt Market! Jodie and I had a lot of fun seeing all the beautiful booths and meeting lots of quilty and fabric friends!

We got into Houston on Friday night.  We missed Sample Spree, because we had no idea that you needed a ticket to get in! So now we know for next year! :)

We stayed all day Saturday, and went back for a few appointments on Sunday morning, and then left back for Dallas.  So it was a short trip, but we had so much fun!

Jodie and Lindsey ready to go to Market!

We got to meet the adorable and super friendly Kate Spain!! She is just as lovely in person!

Orange Peel Pillow Mini Tutorial

Hi there! I am back from Market!! I will be posting about that tomorrow! So be sure to check back, and read all about it--I will have a lot lot pictures to share!

Today, I wanted to share this simple pillow with you today.  A few weeks ago, we got these lovely Cross Weave Woven fabrics in the shop.  These fabrics are beautiful.  They have such a lovely look and texture! We have five different colors, and they are all just as beautiful.  You have to see these in person to truly see how lovely they are!

We have this awesome bundle put together with all the colors we have available, so you can see each one!

This is such a quick and easy project, you can whip this pillow up in no time! I love the linen against the cross-weave.  It gives the pillow a nice texture.  The colors in this pillow are so soft and natural looking, which is perfect for an everyday pillow for your couch, or even your bed! :)

Alright, let's make this!  Here are the instructions:

Diaper and Wipes Travel Pouch {Tutorial}

Hi there! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Today I am going to show you how to whip up this cute and functional Diaper and Wipes Pouch!

This pouch is really simple to put together! I saw an idea like this on Pinterest, but it had a zipper top.  I decided to change this one up a bit by adding a magnetic snap.

This pouch would be an awesome gift for a new mom, or even a mom with more than a few kids! I have three kiddos, and one of them is still in diapers.  She's at the age where I don't need to take a diaper bag with me, but I still need to carry a diaper and wipes just in case.  So this little pouch is the perfect thing to tuck into my purse, so I don't have to carry a diaper bag anymore!

So what do ya say, let's make one!

Card Holder Wallet {Tutorial}

Hi there! I am flying to Texas tomorrow for Quilt Market! Wahoooo! I am so excited for this fun-filled weekend!

While I am at Quilt Market, I am definitely going to take my business cards.  I was thinking, that I didn't really have anywhere to keep a bunch of them all in one place that would be convenient, and small enough to just tuck in my purse.  I figured I should remedy that immediately! :)

So I came up with this tiny Card Holder Wallet:

This card holder measures at 5" wide and 3" tall when closed.  So it's really compact and perfect to put in my already over-flowing purse!   This was so easy to put together, and I was able to literally use some scraps to whip this up.

I used some fusible fleece as my interfacing, which makes the card holder really sturdy.  To keep the wallet closed, I added a magnetic snap.  These things are the best! They are so easy to work with and are very functional!

Fabrics used in this wallet are from A Beautiful Thing by Riley Blake

So what do ya say, let's make one together!

Arabian Nights - Simple Sixteen Quilt

Hi there! I have an awesome new Quilt Kit to share with you guys today! Remember my Simple Sixteen pattern and kit I posted a few months ago?  Well, it has gotten such a great response, we have kitted it again, but we are using Art Gallery's Indelible and coordinates!

I can't tell you how much I love these fabrics together, they are absolutely gorgeous, and just mesh so well with each other!  The deep purples paired with the teal and gray--has to be one of my favorite color combinations! Not to mention the lovely geometric prints paired with the deer prints, and florals are so lovely together!  The background fabric we decided on is a lovely cream color, that really compliments the fabrics used in the kit!

ARABIAN NIGHTS QUILT KIT:   This quilt kit features the Indellible Collection by Art Gallery, along with other Art Gallery blenders!  Kit includes the yardage required for an easy quilt top as pictured, binding, and my Simple Sixteen Quilt Pattern!

Granny Square Quilted Tree Skirt + Pillow

Hi there! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!   Last weekend, at my little sewing retreat with my mom, we made this darling Quilted Granny Square Tree Skirt! The best part is, we put together kits for this lovely Tree Skirt, so you can make one of your very own!

Click HERE to purchase Tree Skirt Kit - sold out

Click Here for the Free PDF Pattern
I have a slight obsession with granny squares right now.  I pretty much adore them, and love the vintage vibe they give.  They are so darn easy to sew up, and they are so lovely all sewn together in this little tree skirt! I am in love!  I couldn't be happier with how this turned out, and I am so glad I get to share the pattern with you!

Since I was at my mom's house I got to quilt this baby up on her Bernina....oh man was I in heaven! It quilted like a dream.  I got this quilted in like a half an hour! I decided to a meandering pattern for the quilting, and I am really happy with how it turned out.

My mom did all the binding, she is the Binding Fairy after all! :) There is nothing like hand binding! The red binding just frames up the skirt perfectly!

If you purchased our kit, you will have enough left over fabric to whip up an extra granny square--so I thought it would be perfect to make a matching pillow! All you need is a 14" pillow form and some batting to make yourself a lovely little pillow to match!

To make this pillow, you will follow the same instructions on the PDF download to make one granny square block.

Your block will measure 11.25" square.

So this is how you make a quilted pillow:

1.  Make one granny square block.

2.  Add a border to your block.  I used 2.5" strips to make my border.  Which happened to be the perfect size!  Your block should be around 14" give or take a little.  I like my pillow covers to be a little snug on my pillows.

3. Quilt your block.  To quilt your block, cut out a square of batting that is about 1" larger on all sides than your block.  Baste your block.  I just stuck in some basting pins, to keep my block and batting from shifting while I quilted it.

4.  I quilted mine using straight lines,  doing a 1/4" lines from all the seams.

5. Trim any excess batting off your block.

6.  Turn your block into a pillow, using the envelope pillow tutorial right here!

That's it! You have yourself a darling pillow to match your tree skirt!

4-Patch Slice Quilt Pattern

Hi there! I hope you all have been enjoying your weekend! I have had a great time on my little sewing retreat weekend with my mom.  We sewed ALL weekend! I can't wait to show you all the projects we've been working on!

The quilt I am sharing today is a pattern I came up with last year.  I had the tutorial on my personal blog, and it has been so popular I decided to finally make it into a nice PDF pattern for you guys!  We are also offering this lovely quilt as a kit at the shop for purchase.

So here it is:

Finished Quilt Size: 55" x 65"

I am smitten with how this quilt turned out.  It's so charming, and girly! I love the fun, vibrant colors and the vintage charm of the script fabric.  It all works so beautifully together to make a wonderfully scrappy quilt!

For the binding, we used a fun green dot print that works beautifully with the quilt.  The binding was done by hand by The Binding Fairy (my mom).  She did a wonderful job, like always on the binding!

Kathy Lefler quilted this for us.  She did a fantastic job!   We decided on loopy loops, and I am really happy with how it turned out!

You can download the PDF pattern for this quilt RIGHT HERE!

This is such a fun quilt to put together! I hope you enjoy the pattern!

*A big thanks to Nettie Moore (my mom) for piecing this quilt and binding it! And to Kathy Lefler for quilting it!

15 Minute Grocery Bag Holder

Hi there! I hope you all are having a good week! Last week I shared a bunch of Milk Cow Kitchen projects and tutorials! Well, I have one more up my sleeve to show you guys.  I have wanted to make a new bag holder for my kitchen for a while now, because my old one is about 5 years old and it is pretty worn out!  So I whipped up this lovely bag holder today, and it literally only took me about 15 minutes to make!  You can't get much quicker than that!

These nifty bag holders are really quite functional!  I love mine and couldn't live without it! It holds all my grocery bags all in one place, and it doesn't take up too much room--which is a bonus when you don't have a big kitchen!

So let's get started!
