Fabric Frenzy Friday

Happy Friday! We have a really fun bundle to share with you today! I really enjoyed sewing with these patriotic fabrics! :) Be sure to scroll down to see what I made!

Born in the USA is this week's Bundle Batch!  This bundle features the 24" Explore America Panel plus red, white & blue coordinates.

Fat Quarter & Half Yard bundles include 1 panel plus 7 different coordinates (8 pieces total).
Included in each bundle:

  1. Explore America 24" Panel - Robert Kaufman
  2. 30's Minis Dots Blue - Penny Rose
  3. Swiss Dots Red - Riley Blake
  4. Cotton Shades Fire Engine - Riley Blake
  5. Grunge Basics Cobalt - Moda
  6. Summer Cottage Scratch Texture Blue - Red Rooster
  7. Scarlet Net - Dear Stella
  8. 30's Minis Dots Red - Penny Rose
Panel included in the bundle

I just love this panel! It was hard to choose which part of the panel I wanted to use for my project! In the end I decided to use the top panel.  I wanted the panel to be the star of the show and so I decided to just add some simple borders to the panel!

It's hard to see in this picture - but I quilted around each state! I didn't want my quilting to go over the abbreviations of each state!

I finished it up with a scrappy binding! This fun mini quilt would be such a fun gift for a teacher! Wouldn't' this be great in a classroom?

Alright, let's get started!

Supplies:

1 Born in the USA bundle
1/2 yard background fabric
3/4 yard of backing

Cutting:

From Panel:
1 - 22 1/2" x 20 1/4"

From Background
4 - 2" x WOF strips
4 - 1.5" x WOF Strips

From fat quarters:
Various strips sizes all cut 3" wide and various lengths.

Step 1: Use your 2" background strips for the first border:

Step 2: Piece together your 3" wide strips until you get a strip long enough to sew on the top and bottom.  Press.  Sew your strip to the top and bottom.

Step 3: Piece together your  3" wide strips until you get two strips long enough for the left and right sides. Press.  Sew your strips to the left and right.

Step 4: Attach your last border using 1.5" background strips.

Step 5: Baste, quilt and bind with your preferred methods!

Now that we shared our fabric for the week, we want to see yours!

Here is your chance to link up anything to do with fabric! You can link up finished quilts, a work in progress, a new fabric you just bought, a project made with fabric, or maybe you just want to show off some of your stash.  Anything goes--as long as it has to do with fabric!

Lindsey, that fabric is fantastic and so is your project. It's perfect for a quilt for a little boy.
