It's October and Halloween is on my mind!

I love chandelier prints....they remind me of ornate, old mansions. You know, the old, abandoned ones...like the "haunted" mansion at Disney. It's easy to wonder what it was like to live in one of those old mansions and what it looked like when the mansions were bright & full of life.

Sooo where am I going with this blog post? It all started because we have some new chandelier prints coming soon! Those old, dark mansions surely don't match the bright & fresh prints we have coming, but I like to think antique chandeliers gave some inspiration! NESTING and DAISY COTTAGE are just delightful and they are due October/November! We can't wait to have these lovely lines in stock!

Just have to share this AMAZING "Happy Birthday" quilt made by Cath H. from Australia! This idea of a gender-neutral table-topper is just fab, as it can be used over & over again. What a great piece to keep in the family as well! Here's a photo of the quilt:

~ the appliqued words "happy birthday to you"

~ the brown fabric that looks like chocolate!

Soooo....what can YOU make with cardboard?

How many of you remember the "DOG MANSION" that my son Mitchell (and his friend Justin) made last year?

Well, it seems the CARDBOARD CREATOR, Mitchell, is at it again! I didn't realize it was *a year-to-the-day of the Dog Mansion* ~ until I went to load the photos! How funny is that?!

Another year....another doghouse......or shall we say, DOG BARN! Inspiration struck again....Mitchell said this would be a barn......and it had to be red, so I bought him a can of red spray paint. I didn't know he'd go find white craft paint (we have a ton of colors!) to add the finishing touches.

I thought Mitchell's DOG BARN turned out awesome! I took the photos outside.....but the barn sits in my office....with the dog bed inside. And yes, ALL THREE of my Chihuahuas go in there & sleep. :o) I love it!

QUILT FEATURE ~ Stablemates!

STABLEMATES is one of the best equestrian lines I've seen! We could barely keep this line in stock ~ and finally ordered all that we could find when we were told by Spectrix the line was discontinued.

These fabrics make a lovely quilt ~ as you can SEE! Take a peek at what Nell G. created:

She made this S.P.E.C.T.A.C.U.L.A.R. quilt for a 10 year old girl who looooves horses! I can only imagine how absolutely THRILLED this sweet girl must be!

Here is something really special about the quilt....take a closer look at the quilting, it is stitched in the shape of horseshoes:

Clever, very very clever....I LOVE it!

Francis S. shared photos of her MADE ~ TO ~ P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N. Merry Grinchmas Quilt. Here's a picture:

She is making a Grinch quilt for each of her grand kids for Christmas! (shhh....don't tell them! I hope they don't read blogs, haha....cause I wouldn't want to spoil an amazing surprise!)

A walk down memory lane.....I remember looking forward to watching the Grinch on T.V. each year at Christmas-time! Remember....before we had DVR, DVDs or even VHS tapes....we had to WAIT for the show to be broadcast on one of the major networks ~ and set your clock, because if you missed it, there was little chance of seeing it another time. I loved having a big ole' bowl of popcorn in my hands while watching shows such as the Grinch, Peanuts Christmas, etc. And the Christmas tree lights were always twinkling in the background. The boys commissioned me to make some pillowcases. Here they are, in a nice, neat stack. (I love brand new, freshly pressed pillowcases....but sadly, I never take the time to press them after the first wash!)

Family Happenings...

Thought I'd share a few photos from recent family events! First....Mitchell's 13th birthday! Hmmmm....I am now mom to 3 teenagers....I'm not sure whether to feel old or just go with all the crazy moments and keep feeling young.

It was a tad cool for the pool that day....so the boys had a great time with a water balloon fight. Here's an action shot:

Unfortunately, I have no photos of Clayton's birthday party....I was out of town for the party and hubby never gave thought to taking pictures, not even one! Sniffff....I should have reminded him! So, I thought I'd make up for that by taking some great shots at the USBC State Bowling Tournament a couple weeks later.....well, as you can see......we have grainy & blurry....I hope these don't hurt your eyes! Here is Clayton with his doubles partner (you can also see Clayton's smile without the braces!):

And finally, some "action" shots....I think I need some lessons on focusing!

That's a little of what we've been up to! These boys are always on the "go".....I think I'll stick with feeling young!

Alexander Henry's WILLOW GROVE ~ Quilt Feature!

It's no secret....I love Alexander Henry Fabric! One of my favorites is Willow Grove in the red, pink, and orange colorstory. It has such flair. I was thrilled to see photos of a quilt made with many of the Willow Grove coordinates....Helen from Australia sent me these pictures of her A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. quilt:

A little story: This print had been out of stock for quite awhile and we had heard it wasn't coming back....in fact, I called Alexander Henry and was told this design wasn't being sent back for re-print. Disappointed, yes...but I knew more fab prints would be coming so I pretty much forgot all about those outstanding bolts on my order from August 2010. Sooo....what a great surprise to have 2 more bolts of Willow Grove land on our doorstep about a month ago! That's some good luck for our customers....now ya'll can have Willow Grove in your stash if you missed it the first time! We also have a few of the coordinates, they are on the Alexander Henry page.

The colors are so sweet in this line of fabric, colorful, yet they have a vintage feel to them as well.

I'd love to show you an amazing creative quilt made by Thimbleanna. She graciously agreed to let us showcase her delightful quilts and wonderful craftsmanship. She not only made one of these quilts, she made three and gave them as gifts. What a delightful and creative quilts.

These Wonky log cabin blocks featuring the Ghastlies really pop against the solid gray fabric used for sashing the blocks.

All of a sudden, these creepy characters don't look so scary after all.....simply adorable.

I really wonder what this group of witches are brewing....the one on the left looks as if she is the "lookout" for the group.

And this little Hammer Girl is drawing a fine line between super cute and well.....lets just say a little extraordinary. The fun mix of fabrics make these blocks so cute and fun.

This is the back of the quilt. The main print was used as the backing and black bands of fabric as sashing. This really looks like these creepers are looking right at you from jail. Thimbleanna, this is an amazing quilt, we love the design and your creative touches. Thank you so much for letting us showcase your beautiful quilt.

Cinco De Mayo is right around the corner, May 5th. Here at Ft. Worth Fabric Studio we have some great fabrics that would incorporate in your celebration perfectly. Yup, I really did order these fabrics! They are just crazy enough to be alot of fun ~ especially if you take a close look at them. There's "Quick & Easy Knitting Projects" that have taken a terribly long time (obviously too long).....and skulls with crossbones made from scissors and knitting needles! KNITTY GRITTY and URBAN GRIT will be here in a few weeks! With fabrics called "Knitmare on Elm Street," "Quilt Pirates," "Knit Pirates," and "Crosswise," I think someone at Michael Miller had a great time naming these pieces!

Wow, look at this amazing Treasure Island quilt by Elaine! She made this for her 6 year old grandson...what a LUCKY FELLOW! She did some pretty awesome quilting on this as well: The center is echo quilting, the skulls have squiggly lines, the gold coins have zig zag lines, the water has waves, and the sky has meandering.

It's a great time to feature this project, because if you are inspired....

Mitchell's Gingerbread House

I knew this would be right up Mitchell's alley. He loves art & crafty things. He already put up the Christmas tree all by himself......took it out of the box, set up the tree, and put on the ornaments. So I knew he'd have fun with this little project! Notice the cell phone within arm's reach on the table, haha!

Speaking of gingerbread & Christmas cookies....I found an amazing line for Christmas 2011 by Janet Wecker Frisch.....so far it is my favorite of all the Christmas lines I've seen. It's called Christmas Tradition. And yes, it's up for pre-order already! The Cookies & Snowflake Stripe is my favorite print.

Newsflash....I've just been informed that the roof is going to start disappearing from the gingerbread house...haha....good thing I took photos before the nibbling started!
