Christmas Table Runner

We are continuing our Christmas in July series, with this vintage inspired table runner!

My addiction to toweling, is ever increasing! I can't get enough of it, and I have made it a mission of mine to make as many different things with toweling that I can think of! :)  A few months back, I came across this awesome tutorial for a table runner using toweling! I knew I had to make one, I was just waiting for the right toweling to come along!

We recently added Christmas toweling to our stock of toweling at the shop, and I am in love with it! This vintage inspired santa toweling is seriously to die for.  It reminds me of my grandma's house during Christmas time.   So when I saw this, I knew it was meant to be a table runner for sure!

This runner is a breeze to make! It literally took me a little over an hour to complete.  I followed this tutorial, but changed my measurements to fit my table.  I also added some ric rac, to add some extra flare.   I couldn't be happier with how the finished runner turned out, and I am pretty certain that some matching tea towels, are definitely in order!

Since I am a foodie at heart, and I love to bake, I thought I would share this bread recipe with you as well!  I just got this recipe from my friend, a little bit ago and I really loved how the bread turned out. It's not as dense as my go-to bread recipe and it is a little sweeter, which I love!

Homemade Bread
Makes 2 loaves

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

In a bowl combine:
2 Tablespoons yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 teaspoon sugar

Mix well, and set aside and let the yeast rise double.

In a separate bowl combine:

1 cup scalded milk
3/4 cup water
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup oil
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs

Mix until combined, and then add yeast mixture.

Start by adding 3 cups of flour and mix well, keep adding flour until dough comes together about another 3-4 cups.  Knead the dough for a couple of minutes, then place in an oiled bowl and cover.  Put in a warm spot and let rise until doubled in size.

Once the dough is double in size, remove from bowl and separate the dough into two equal portions, form into loaves, and place into greased loaf pans.  Cover and let rise again, until doubled in size.

Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until bread is cooked through.

You can definitely use this recipe to make rolls as well! I have made two batches of this bread and my family has pretty much devoured it all!

Talk to you soon,

I love the vintage toweling too, for the same reasons--it reminds me of my grandmother! I'll have to try the bread recipe. Lately we've been making a lot but so far haven't found "the recipe" yet.

Thanks Lindsey! Will certainly try this. Why don't you share your "go-to recipe" too? :)

If anyone cares to tutor me on how to make these posts go through in a manner other than "anonymous" , I'm open to your advice.

Hi Melba! :) This is the recipe I usually use when I make bread: http://www.inspiringcreationsblog.com/2010/08/homemade-bread.html I have made this recipe for about three years now, and it reminds me of the bread my mom made when I was growing up. :)

Now, if you don't want to be an anonymous commenter, you have to sign up for a google/blogger account. :) I hope this helps!

It does look lovely. Adding a little ric rac always seems to make something look 'vintage' to me, or at least 50's/60's and its perfect for the fabrics in this table runner.
