Handmade... I made it when I was in college. My mom and I make them for wedding presents for our relatives and close friends

We have always had a homemade tree skirt - but I gave mine away to one of my daughters and so I need a new one - isn't that a coincidence!

I actually have been planning to make a tree skirt for years but haven't got around to it. I am using a piece of gold and red upholstery material.

I use "snow" around the bottom of mine. (It's kind of like felt but thin like tissue paper - with glitter).

My tree skirt was made by my MIL over 20 years ago! It's still lovely, in the shape of a star, although the fabrics look rather dated. It has sentimental value though, so I still use it.

Shauna said...

I don't currently have a tree skirt, I use some fabric around the bottom of my tree.

Cynthia Brunz Designs said...

I don't even use a tree skirt. I have a raggedy blanket I have been meaning to replace with a handmade one. I forget about it until it is time to use it again.

We don't have a tree skirt. I really need to make one as we use a smaller tree that sits on the counter dividing our kitchen and living room. And making a tree skirt means matching stockings need to be made so I can buy more fabric, hooray!

So pretty! I've never had a real tree skirt - we've always used a little baby quilt my grandma made for our first baby 26 years ago - but yesterday I was at the thrift store and found an adorable vintage tree skirt! So now I have one, but I'd love to make one too!

Haha! My tree skirt is a cut up old tablecloth that I used to make some napkins for christmas gifts a few years ago. Have never gotten around to actually sewing it up, so it's just a drapey, scrappy, mess :)

Crafty Coffin said...

I love that tree skirt! Our current is not only store bought but a hand me down that we used when I was a kid. I'm working on a homemade one but doubt I will get it done in time - maybe next year? But since my husband has already commented on my "loud" fabric choices I'd love to win this kit since I think he would approve!

Lee said...

Mine is homemade - I quilted it 30 yrs ago! I would love to make one for my sister though! thanks!

Hitch and Thread said...

I'm afraid I don't have one. We upgraded to a new tree as the 20 year old one was falling apart. The new one is taller so a skirt is still on the list. Happy Christmas.

Mine is a £2 thing from a grocey store - I think it was meant to be disposable but I seem to keep it 'coz I hate throiwing things away!!!

Mine is homemade, I crocheted it over 30 years ago. I could use an updated one. Thanks.

kris said...

My current tree skirt is store bought, the only handmade Christmas items I have are a quilt and pillow cover.

Technically, it's homemade. It was a fleece kit I bought at JoAnn's last year. It makes a great cat magnet. LOL

I had a store bought one but I made my granddaughter and my daughter each a tree skirt. I love making tree skirts. My quilting group think they make great wedding gifts.

Unknown said...

It's very old, and it is now with my nephew. I don't have one anymore. But I'll bet it was store bought. If I win, I'll have to make it for next year, and find something temporary for this year. Thanks for the opportunity.

Amy DeCesare said...

That's a kind of a tough question to answer - we just use a piece of red fabric, draped around the tree base, so I guess that would be homemade! lol I have made two beautiful quilted tree skirts in the past two years, so now I need to make one for myself! lol

Anonymous said...

It's a handmade one, but it's old and I wouldn't mind having it replaced. Thanks for a great giveaway!

Unknown said...

A square tree skirt...I like it! I don't have a tree skirt right now, so this would be perfect. Thanks for the giveaway.

Our tree skirt is handmade, but not by me! We inherited it from my mother-in-law, and I was with her when she bought it at a Christmas bazaar. It's been in use now for a good 25 years and we could use a new one. I think this would do nicely. :)

My tree skirt is a little of both. I purchased a plain red velvet skirt and added 8" triangles around the edge to dress it up and make it larger. It's 15 years old now, so it's really time I made a new one. Thanks for the chance to win the kit! It would look lovely under my tree!
