I would like to think I will start this month but realistically it will be September.

If you call making a Christmas Tree runner starting my shopping then I have started. Any Mall shopping I usually start about the first of November.

I start my Christmas shopping around December 20. Not very smart, I know. I always have good intentions on starting early, but have rarely managed yet.

I start around the time they say order by this date to receive by Christmas. So bad I know.

I think I generally start during the Hallmark ornament premier because my daughter collects Mickey Mouse ornaments and I buy them for her stocking.

Lindsey I have already started making things for nieces and granddaughter. Since my kids are grown they usually want pricier things so I wait until black friday

Trisch said...

I usually start the end of November or first part of December. I even do some of my sewing last minute. I start out with good intentions but well, you know, stuff happens.

ShirleyC said...

I have no set time to start shopping, but it usually never until closer to Christmas. If I have to order things for the grandkids, I do try to get those ordered in plenty of time for Christmas.
I make a few things so I'm already working on those.

OK, I start my Christmas MAKING in July, so I need to start this week. EEEk, not knowing what I'm making yet for my sons.

I start when I see the first perfect gift. I see ideas for making gifts all year round. Thanks for the giveaway.

As early as possible. Although it has happened that sometime in summer I saw the perfet gift on sale for a family member, bought it, stash it and come christmas time could not remember where I stored it! Ended up buying a second gift in December!
So, I like to stash gifts, but have to remember very well where I keep them!

Chiska said...

I'm always shopping for Christmas. It takes the stress away from the season for me.

Mom C said...

I'm always on the lookout but mostly I give checks so I don't really stress til Thanksgiving. Love all things Santa. Thanks.

Kate said...

I start Oct. 6 (my mom's birthday is 10/5 so I wait to see what's checked off her list) and I'm done by December 1. Then I can enjoy the last minute sewing. ;)

I'm a procrastinator... don't usually start until November at the earliest.

I usually start mine about now! I take vacation ops urging July 4 week and when that's over, I realize that it really isn't that long until Christmas! As a matter of fact, I am already thinking about the gifts I need to start making!

Anita said...

I used to start in October before I had kids but it gets pushed to December lately. Hopefully I can get a head start this year.

I keep my eyes open for gifts all year long. But then I hide them and sometimes hide them too well and have to buy or make again.

Shopping begins when I spy something I know is a great gift.. I've already got a small pile growing in the closet and plans for LOTS of home made projects that I've already started to work on!

Mara said...

I'm kind of a last minute gal, and get stuff the last week, but I do buy a few toys when I find them on sale for the kids.

Jane S. said...

I have been known to start my Christmas shopping the week after Christmas! If there's something great on clearance I'll get it and put it in my little stash. I add to the stash all year long and then I don't have to fight the crowds come the end of the year.

right after the last Christmas - I am always on the look out for treasures that fit someone

I want to start earlier but it's always the same every year. December! I always want to get my Xmas cards out first. I do photo cards. It's hard to get the family together for current pictures. Then I have to order them. That takes another week. By now it's usually the 10th of December. Ugh!! Maybe this is the year I can do everything sooner, or at least I will try!

Actual Christmas shopping, I do in November. And that's for 13 grandchildren and 1 great. But sewing for Christmas, I start in June.

Unknown said...

Sewing for Christmas I start about September and shopping about October.

gpc said...

I pick things up all year if I see something special. For instance, I have a friend named Robin who collects Robin-themed items, so I am always on the lookout for those. And I sew little projects, like pot holders, as I have time. So I guess it's Christmas all year long at my house, lol. :)

valerie boudier said...

Any time I see something suitable for a present during the year valerie.boudier@ntlworld.com

VickiT said...

Anytime during the year when there is a really good sale on something I'll pick it up for a gift for someone on my Christmas list. And sometimes if a really great sale, I'll even grab a second one. SCORE for me now. LOL

KathleenD said...

I don't have a big Christmas gift list. I usually make lots of Christmas cookies as gifts for our neighbors and friends and we go door-to-door delivering them in our Santa hats in mid-December. All our family members are adults and live in other states, so we tend to send them gift certificates. IF I shop for something specific, I usually start 1 to 2 months ahead of the occasion.

Unknown said...

I try to hunt for Christmas all year long and catch bargains. This year probably some handmade items to offset my bargains. Thanks for the giveaway!
