Scrappy Christmas Pillow

Hi there! I hope you are having a good week! I am sure you are all busy preparing for Thanksgiving! I know I am! :) Today I want to share another quick Christmas project with you!

I am pretty certain, this may be my favorite thing I've made in a while!

It is just so fun and scrappy! I absolutely love it!  The best part about this,  I just used all scraps to make this pillow! It is so simple to make, but makes such a cute statement!  Once you make one, you'll want to make another---trust me! :)

Supplies for pillow:

1 - 14" pillow form
1.5" strips of scraps of fabric
1 - 2.5" square for the center of block
1 fat quarter for pillow cover

All you need to make this block is 1.5" strips in lots of different lengths.  Once you've cut your scraps, you just have to assemble the block.

All you have to do is starting with the center square--which is 2.5" you work your way out from that and add strips that are 1.5" wide.  I made this little diagram to show you how to work out the proper way.  You start with A, then go out alphabetically.  All seam allowances are 1/4"

I don't measure the actual length of my strips.  I like to have plenty of strip leftover so I can trim it to size.  I just have a bucket of 1.5" wide scraps next to my sewing machine, and make sure it's long enough for the next piece I will be sewing on and then sew it on, and trim off any excess.  Then iron.  You will want to iron after every seam, to keep things nice and neat!

Once you have your block made, it should measure about 15" square.  You can make this however small or big your pillow form is! I just used a 14" pillow form.  Once you have it done, you will make your pillow cover.  You can find my envelope pillow cover tutorial here!

And that's it friends! So simple, yet so darn cute! I am thinking I need to make one of these for every holiday!

Be sure to stop by tomorrow for another fun Christmas project! :)

Talk to you soon,

You've got so many good ideas! This makes such a colourful pillow and uses up those scraps that accumulate.

I really enjoy when you can get a Christmas feel without a ton of Christmas specific fabrics. Very nice!
