Hi there! Today I'm sharing our last April Mystery Project! I can't believe it's the end of April! Where did this month go?! Alright, let's get to it!
Quilted Star Pillow:
I have an obsession with stars and pillows. So I thought it would be fun to combine the two and make this fun pillow! Heaven knows I have enough pillows, but really what is one more? They are great for adding pops of color in your home, and the great thing about them, is that when you are sick of it, you just take the cover off, and put something new on!
I love how it turned out! The prints in this fabric line are so saturated with color and they just make me happy!

Alright, let's get started!
You should have plenty of fabric left over to pick and choose which fabrics you'd like to put in your pillow! Below is the list of what I used exactly:
Cutting:
5 - 4" squares out of the floral print (I fussy cut this print, so that I could get those lovely flowers)
4 - 4" squares out of background fabric (cream oval elements)
4 - 3 3/8" squares out of the navy feather print- Cut in half diagonally
4 - 3 3/8" squares out of teal bird print - Cut in half diagonally
10 - 3 3/8" squares of of cream oval elements fabric - Cut in half diagonally
This block is made out of these square in a square blocks, these are super easy to make!
Layout your pieces:
Take one triangle and place it right sides together with the square. Your corners will hang over on each side, so make sure you get it centered. The best way to do this is to find the center point of the square and the triangle and then pin into place, then sew on using a 1/4" seam allowance:
Do the same thing to the opposite side and then press
Now you will do the same thing, on the remaining sides, make sure you have your triangles centered. This is important so that you don't lose your points!
You will make the following blocks:
Layout your pieces and then sew into rows, I pressed my seams open.
Now sew your rows together to make your block. Press seams open.
Finished Block will measure 15" x 15"
Now this is where you can decide whether you want to turn it into a pillow, or just make a mini quilt. I decided it would be fun to make a quilted pillow with mine.
To do this, you will baste your block with some batting (no backing)
Quilt as desired. I quilted with some simple straight lines.
Now make it into a pillow - Use this tutorial to make into a pillow.
We will be back with more mystery projects for June!
Talk to you soon,

Can you tell me what fabric line you used to make this pillow. The colors are so me. I love the text backing also.
Hi Patti, the fabric is the Petal and Plume collection by Art Gallery: http://www.fortworthfabricstudio.com/shop/category/petal-plume-art-gallery/
Super cute, Lindsey! And those fabrics are perfect for spring/summer.
Precioso!!!!
Finally getting around to my April Mystery projects (after Christmas). These blocks came out better for me if I cut the 3 3/8 inch squares to be 3 1/2 inches instead. Then I trimmed a little bit off the finished block so they measured 5 1/2 inches each. Thought this might help someone else.
