It's officially Spring, and let me tell you -- I am seriously excited! I am looking forward to warm weather, blooming flowers, and spending time in the fresh air! To get in the spirit of all things Spring, I spent all weekend sewing and crafting Spring projects.
For all the projects I used this fabulous spring themed bundle called "Easter Candy"
This bundle is oh-so charming! Lovely shades of purple, pink, yellow and blue--this bundle says "Spring!" If you'd like to purchase this bundle--go here!
As soon as I got my hands on this bundle I knew I wanted to make several projects with it!
My first project was this fun wreath:
This was a lot of fun to make, and the options are endless when making your own!
Let's get started:
Wrap a foam wreath form with ribbon. The ribbon I used on this wreath was about 1.5" wide and I used about 10 yards to wrap my wreath.
I used hot glue on the back to secure the start of the ribbon and also to end the ribbon.
Now, you will need to make some fabric flowers. I made a complete tutorial for these cute things here!
I ended up making 4 flowers for this wreath in various different sizes. You can make as many or as few as you prefer for this. This is all about how you want your wreath to look.
Just use hot glue to attach them to your wreath.
Now for the tiny fabric bunting:
Cut out however many triangles you want for your bunting:
Now you will sew these together in a line. I backstitched at the beginning and end and I kind of overlapped them a tiny bit.
I decided to do four little flags on mine--which fit perfectly for my size of wreath. I attached the bunting using a tiny bit of hot glue on either side of the wreath. You could also just tie the string around each side of the wreath if you want. I found glueing was easier for me!
Now here is where your imagination can go wild! Add as many embellishments as you'd like until you get your wreath just right. The sky is the limit here! You could add more flowers, you could put in some fabric yo-yo's, felt flowers, or you could use burlap instead of ribbon to wrap around your wreath form. There are so many ways to change this up to fit your personal style!
I love how mine turned out and it is now hanging in my house so I can enjoy it all throughout Spring!
If you decide to make a Spring Wreath like mine--I would love to see it!
Send me an email (lindsey@fortworthfabricstudio.com) or upload it to our flickr group! :)
Talk to you soon,
PS: I will be posting the tutorials for the pillow and table runner soon! So check back! :)
