June Mystery Project #4 {Bonus Projects}

Hi there! So, I hope you saved up all your scraps from your June Mystery Bundle!  I have TWO bonus projects to share with you!

Look at all these fabulous projects I've made with the June Mystery Bundle!

First up is this super cute and easy pincushion! You really can't have enough of these in my opinion! I am on a pincushion kick right now, and have made several in the last month or two! I love making them because they are so simple, but very functional! They also would make a great gift for your quilty friends!

June Mystery Project 3 {Ric Rac Tea Towels}

Hi there! Today I am excited to share the third mystery project with you! (I have a bonus project to share later this week, so be sure to keep all your scraps)

I have a love for decorating my kitchen.  I love to collect old trinkets and vintage kitchen items and scatter them throughout my kitchen.  The rolling pin in the picture below was my grandmother's rolling pin. I love that it has yellow handles, and you can see that it was used a lot! There are a lot of markings and scuffs on it! My grandma was a great cook, and I imagine she made many yummy things with this rolling pin!  My grandma was also a great seamstress.  I like to think some of my love of sewing came from her.  I think she would have enjoyed making these towels for her kitchen and probably would have made several sets!

I love to sew functional things! One of my favorite things to make are tea towels! They are a breeze to make, and I hang them everywhere!  I have a set hanging from an old vintage window, a set hanging from a ladder, and another set hanging from a corner iron shelf.  They add a fun touch to my kitchen, and I love switching them out with different holiday ones! So today, I thought I would share this very simple version of tea towels, that you can either use as actual towels, or you can just hang them up for decoration! :)

I hope you enjoy making these as much as I did! :)

June Mystery Project 2 {Pot Holder Tutorial}

Hi there! I'm really excited to share this next project with you! When thinking of the second project for the series, I wanted to do something that wasn't only functional, but also show you a piecing technique you may have not done before!

Pot Holder Tutorial
Click HERE to download the PDF

These blocks are so fun to make! I would love to make an entire quilt from this quilt block! It would be darling.  These are pieced quite simply, but there is a partial seam involved when you piece these together.  I hope if you haven't ever used this technique, you won't shy away!  It is a lot easier than it looks, and once you do it-you will wonder why you were worried!

Pot Holder Tutorial

The pot holders are about 9" finished, and I kept them square.  However, if you wanted to round the corners, you could do so! You would just need to cut bias binding, so your binding would go around the curves nicely.  I also quilted them quite simply with some straight line quilting.

I had a great time stitching these up! There is always something so gratifying about making something you can use that is both pretty and functional!  Now I just need to make a few more sets! One can never have enough of these! ;)

I hope you enjoy stitching these up as much as I did!

Talk to you soon,

 **PS: Aside from the 3rd project (the tea towels, which will post next Sunday), I have a bonus project to share with you! So keep all your scraps and stay tuned!

June Mystery Project 1{30's Dresden Mini}

Hi there! I'm so excited to share the first Mystery Project for June with you today!

Since these prints are 30's prints, I wanted to keep the projects somewhat traditional.  When designing these projects I imagined things that my grandmother or my great-grandmother would have made or used.

For the first project I decided to make a Dresden.  I love love love dresdens.  I really can't get enough of them! They are easier to make than they look, and have a certain "wow" factor!

Click HERE to download the PDF pattern!

I imagine this block is something my great-grandmother would have made! When I think about my great-grandmother making this, I imagine her cutting small scraps from old aprons, blouses, and other bits and pieces of fabric she had saved through the years, and carefully piecing it together.  Working on it when she had a moment to spare.  I envision her making several blocks and piecing them into a beautiful and functional quilt.  :)

Click HERE to download the PDF pattern!

As much as I would love to make an entire full sized quilt from these lovely little dresdens, I just don't have the time! So instead, I am going to show you how to make this charming mini quilt!! And maybe if you catch the dresden fever, like I have--you'll go on to make an entire full sized quilt! :)

Just a few things about the bundle before you begin:

We have included quite a bit of fabric in this bundle, and so I am not being as specific about which prints to use where.  You can make these your own by choosing which prints to put into your projects...however there are a few pieces that need to be reserved for specific things and I have listed them below:

  • The toweling project (project 3) will require the ric rac included in the bundle.  There are also 4 smaller strips included in the bundle that measure 18" long.  Reserve these for the towels.

  • The large piece of red plaid is used for the backing for the 30's Dresden Mini

  • When cutting the small 2.5" squares for this project, cut from the short edge of your fabric strips---like pictured in the illustration below:
  • For the binding of this project you will use this red print:

  • For the second project you will use this print for the backing:

  • For the second project you will use this print for the binding:

I hope you enjoy making this mini quilt as much as I did!

April Mystery Project #3 {Quilted Star Pillow}

Hi there! Today I'm sharing our last April Mystery Project! I can't believe it's the end of April! Where did this month go?! Alright, let's get to it!

Quilted Star Pillow:

I have an obsession with stars and pillows.  So I thought it would be fun to combine the two and make this fun pillow!  Heaven knows I have enough pillows, but really what is one more?  They are great for adding pops of color in your home, and the great thing about them, is that when you are sick of it, you just take the cover off, and put something new on!

I love how it turned out! The prints in this fabric line are so saturated with color and they just make me happy!

Alright, let's get started!

April Mystery Project 2 {Hexie Mini Quilt}

Hi there! It's time for our second Mystery Project of the month! This time we are making this fun Hexie Mini:

I have recently fallen in love with making hexies, and thought it would be fun to do a small project with these addicting little shapes! :)

The great thing about making hexies, is that you can take them on the go! If I know I will be taking a long car ride, or maybe waiting for my daughter at dance practice I will take my hexies along with me and stitch them up!  They can be very relaxing to make, and I really enjoy stitching them when I'm on a netflix binge!

Alright, let's get started!

April Mystery Project 1 {Quilted Zipper Pouch}

Hi there! Today I am sharing our first April Mystery Project:  A Quilted Zipper Pouch! I hope the idea of a zipper doesn't scare you too bad! I promise this is as easy as it gets when installing a zipper! This is a great starting point when learning how to install zippers!

I decided to make this pouch to store English Paper Piecing supplies! So I made the pouch a little longer to give me the space that I need to keep all my odds and ends in one place! The great thing about this is that you can just pop this right in your purse and you can take your paper piecing anywhere!  We will be learning how to do hexagons next week for our next project! So stay tuned!! :)

Click HERE to purchase the April Mystery Bundle
I decided to quilt this pouch to give it extra texture and also so you wouldn't have to use interfacing, and could use batting!  Also, I'm not sure if you can spot my mistake, but my birds are facing the wrong direction!!  I about had a meltdown when I turned my zip pouch right side out and realized my mistake! I thought I was so careful at making sure the print was going the right direction, but this fabric got the best of me this time!  I decided not to re-do the pouch so that you could learn from my mistake!  When working with directional fabric you really do need to be extra careful!
8.5" x 8.5"
 Alright  friends, lets get started!

Mystery Project 3 {Orange Peel Mug Rug}

Hi there! I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Today I am back to share my final March Mystery Project! :)  Oh and guess what?  We have April's Mystery Project Bundle listed in the shop! Go here for details!

For the last project, I decided to make a fun Orange Peel Mug Rug! I have always loved orange peel quilts.  They are so beautiful, and it is one quilt that is on my quilt bucket list! Right now, I don't have the time to dive into an Orange Peel quilt (one day I will, I hope!), so I thought I would make a small mug rug instead for some instant Orange Peel gratification! ;)

mug rug tutorial

I love how it turned out! It's so delicate, and simple.  I quilted it rather simply, by just going around the petals, and then doing a small border a 1/4" from the blue border. I don't really use my mug rugs for their real purpose (mostly), but rather I place them here and there in my house, where I need a little color and fun!

This mug rug's home will be in a windowpane above my entry table, along with my Fresh Cut Flowers runner, and a simple Fresh Cut banner.

The great thing about this simple project is that it was done in less than an hour.  I love projects like that. So simple and so gratifying.

Alright, grab the rest of your bundle and let's get started!

Mystery Project 2 {Fresh Cut Flowers}

Hi there! I hope you all are ready for our second Mystery Project! Friday was the official start of Spring! Yay! I love spring, and nothing says "Spring" quite like some fresh cut flowers!

38" x 11"

This runner is so bright and cheery.  I love the fun floral designs in this fabric, and these flowers really show off those lovely floral prints.  This is a simple pattern, and it took me no time at all to whip up this lovely bunch of flowers! :)

I placed my runner on my entry table, and I love how it looks against the dark wood of the table! The colors really just pop!

I had a lot of fun making this runner, I hope you enjoy it too! :)

March Mystery Project 1 {Flutter Butterfly}

Hi there! I am excited to share the first Mystery Project for March with you!  I have been having so much fun designing and making these projects!  I am really itching for Spring, and with the warm weather we have had recently, it has made me even that more excited!  So what better way to welcome Spring, than with a fun mini quilt?

Flutter Butterfly:

24" x 25"

I had a lot of fun making this mini quilt! This was one of those instances where the fabric inspired the pattern.  When I saw this fabric, I wanted to be able to showcase all of the lovely floral prints.  So I came up with a simple butterfly block, that used larger pieces to show off the beautiful florals in this line of fabric!

I am pleased with the way it came out! It's so fresh, and just says Spring Time to me! :)

I hope you enjoy making this as much as I did!

I thought it would be easier for those of you joining me in the Mystery Projects, to have a printable PDF pattern.  Click on the link below to download!

Mystery Project Three {Lucky Table Runner}

Hi there! I am here to share my final green Mystery Project.  This last project is as simple as it gets! I decided on a simple table runner.  I love easy projects like this table runner, it takes no time at all and it's great for those leftover scraps!

 I embellished mine with some fun shamrocks, but you could leave those off if you prefer.  Or you could add more and scatter them about your runner! This is where you take your creativity and run with it!

I quilted this with a simple meandering pattern.  I didn't go over my shamrocks, because I stitched those down before with a simple straight stitch, but everything else I meandered.  I also did a scrappy binding and my mom was kind enough to bind it by hand for me.  :)
Finished Size: 12" x 33"

Alright, get out the remaining of your Mystery Bundle and let's get started!

Mystery Project 2 {Criss Cross Pillow}

Hi there! Time for our second Mystery Project! Yay! I am having so much fun with this!  Today's project is a pillow.  However, if you don't want to make this into a pillow, you could make several of these blocks I'm going to show you and make a table runner, topper, or even a quilt.

Since I am a pillow lover, and I can't ever have enough.  I went with a pillow!  I am calling it the Criss-Cross Pillow

The great thing about this pillow, is it really doesn't have to be for St. Patrick's Day.  I will be using this through the year along with all my other holiday pillows! :)  I stuck with just using one of my green prints in the Mystery Bundle (I used a separate print for the backing) because I wanted it to be simple, and with all the cutting and seams, I decided to go with a print that easily hides your seams.  I am happy with the result, and I can't wait to add this beauty to my pillow spot!

Alright, let's get started shall we?

Mystery Project #1 {St. Patty's Day Pinwheels}

Hi there! It's here! Our first Mystery Project! I am super excited about this fun series! :)  I hope you enjoy the three projects I am going to share with you throughout our first Mystery Project series!

If you are new around here, then you need to know that I have an obsession with pinwheels.  I really love them.  They seem to find a place in a lot of my quilts. :)

So when I was playing around with quilt designs not too long ago, I knew I wanted to make a mini quilt with these fun pinwheels!   So the first Mystery Project I am sharing today is this fun St. Patty's Day Pinwheel mini quilt.

St. Patrick's Day Quilt
Click HERE to purchase Mystery Project Bundle

I had a lot of fun making this little quilt.  The blocks come together easily, and since there are only nine of them, it didn't take too long to stitch them all up!   The great thing about this fun mini quilt, is that you could use this as a cute table topper in your kitchen, or you can hang it on the wall or from a cute shelf, and it would look so cute and festive! I haven't decided where I am going to put mine yet, but I am thinking it will be going on my quilt shelf in my kitchen. :) I will have to take a picture when I put it up for St. Patrick's Day.  :)
