Plant Kindness, Gather Love Stitchable

Hi there! I hope you all had a good weekend! :)  I have a fun new embroidery project to share with you.  I love embroidery, it is really quite relaxing to me and I especially love it in the winter time!

I designed this simple pattern with Valentine's Day in mind:
Purchase Kit HERE - sold out
I had a lot of fun designing and stitching up this lovely pattern!  I went for a more primitive look for this specific pattern - and I love how it turned out.

I decided to turn my stitchery into a pillow! I decided on a scrappy-happy log cabin block! I love the scrappy goodness and all those colorful pinks and reds!

Valentine's Pillow Tutorial

Hi there! I have been on a pillow making spree!!!  :)   You know how much I love making pillows!  I figured I needed some more cute Valentine pillows to add to my collection.  This one is super simple and scrappy!

I added a cute little appliquéd heart to one of the squares - just for some extra cuteness! I also added ric-rac around the border.

I decided to quilt it with some simple straight line quilting.  I have found that I like to quilt my pillow tops because it gives them more structure.  You should try it out if you haven't before!

Alright, let's get started!

Fabric Requirements:

Cutting:
  • 8- 4.5" x 4.5" red squares
  • 8 - 4.5" x 4.5" pink squares
  • 2 - 16.5" x 2" strips of border fabric
  • 2 - 19.5" x 2" strips of border fabric

Assembly:

Sew together your pink and red squares into a 16 patch. Alternating the red and pinks. Press.
If you are going to add ric rac, you will sew along the raw edge of your 16" patch.  Sew on with a 1/4" seam.

Sew on top and bottom border and press, then sew on left and right border and press.

Now you can add your appliquéd heart if you would like.  Iron fabric to the fusible web according to directions.  Then cut out a heart and iron on to your pillow top. Stitch on to secure.

Now you are ready to turn into a pillow - or you could quilt and bind and make a cute wall hanging!

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial! There will be another cute Valentine Pillow tutorial in the near future- so stay tuned! ;)

Easy Heart Garland

Hi there! With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I decided it's time to start making some cute things to decorate my house! :)  I love making banners!   When I don't have a lot of time to sew, but want to make something - I love to make banners because they come together so quickly! And don't forget, they are super cute too! ;)

To make this cute banner, all you need is:

  • Valentine's fabric - you can find this darling Valentine's Basics fat quarter bundle HERE
  • Scrap Batting
  • Pinking shears
  • Ric Rac

  • First take your fabric and place one piece right side down, place some batting on top of your fabric and then place another piece of fabric right side up on top of your batting.  Pin together.
  • Make a heart template and trace your heart onto your fabric, and then sew a 1/4" inside your traced heart.
  • Cut out along your traced line with pinking shears.
  • Sew onto some ric rac or other ribbon.

You could definitely embellish these as much as you wanted! You could add some cute buttons or use other trim!  I think I'll have to make another set - and add some cute embellishments!

Talk to you soon!

Love Notes {A Free Pattern}

Hi there! I am pretty excited about my latest Valentine's Day project! I have a serious obsession with all things red and pink right now.  I can't get enough of it, and it just makes me happy! :)

Ever since last year, when I made this heart pillow, I knew I needed to make some more projects with a fun heart design.  I changed the heart up from the one I showed you last year, but I love this one just the same.

I also have a love affair with pinwheels. They are my absolute favorite.  It was the first block I learned how to make, and I made my first quilt with the pinwheel block.  So I decided to combine hearts and pinwheels, and this fun little runner came to life.

Love Notes Table Runner
Love Notes - 37" x 17"

I am sure you can tell why I named this Love Notes!  I absolutely love using this fun script fabric as my background fabric.   It is perfect for this pattern.  We have a bunch of fun text prints in the shop to choose from - -  go here for our selection of text prints!

I quilted this with a loopy loop pattern.  I thought I would try to do a fun heart pattern, but I couldn't get the hang of free motion quilting hearts, so I figured I would play it safe, and keep to something I know I can do! :) This would also be pretty with some straight line quilting, to keep it simple. :)

Tiny hearts for binding! This print makes my heart happy :) Unfortunately we sold out of this print, but this mini dot print would be a lovely substitute.  :)
